Español [ ES ]En una preciosa finca de Labastida se ubica Granja Nuestra Señora de Remelluri, la bodega que, junto a Contino, revolucionó la Rioja Alavesa en los años setenta, adelantándose a su tiempo y presentándose como “el primer château de Rioja”, con viñas y bodega en la misma finca. Sus vinos se salían del concepto clásico para apostar por un perfil más moderno, frutal y, para muchos, más elegante. La bodega está rodeada de historia, ya que se ubica en lo que fue un poblado medieval del siglo X, del que se conserva un lagar de vino; en el siglo XIV los monjes Jerónimos crearon aquí una granja monástica dependiente del santuario del Toloño, donde está registrada la actividad vitícola desde el siglo XVI. Tras varios cambios de propiedad, la bodega Granja Nuestra Señora de Remelluri arranca su trayectoria en 1968 tras ser adquirida por Jaime Rodríguez y Amaya Hernandorena. Por entonces, este enclave contaba con 20 ha de viñas viejas. Actualmente, la bodega está dirigida por la segunda generación, representada por Telmo Rodríguez, toda una figura nacional que compagina su labor en la casa familiar con su propia empresa, ompañía de Vinos Telmo Rodríguez. La finca está protegida de vientos y heladas y goza de un microclima excepcional del que se benefician 90 hectáreas de viñas, divididas en infinidad de pequeñas parcelas al pie del monte Toloño, y trabajadas de forma ecológica.
El origen de la Granja Remelluri se pierde en la noche de los tiempos. Una necrópolis en el centro de la finca indica la existencia de un poblado ya en el siglo X. Los monjes abandonaron Remelluri en el siglo XV; el santuario se mantiene con ermitaños que dan culto hasta muy entrado el siglo XIX. El libro de cuentas más antiguo conservado en el Ayuntamiento de Labastida, fechado en 1596, reseña ya todos los años y hasta el siglo pasado la aportación de vino en cántaras de la Granja Nuestra Señora de Remelluri. Un hacendado de Labastida adquiere el núcleo principal de Remelluri, manteniendo el viñedo. Esta propiedad, de aproximadamente 20 hectáreas, llega intacta hasta 1967, siendo en este año adquirido por el industrial guipuzcoano Jaime Rodríguez Salis. Desde entonces y a lo largo de cuatro decenios, la Granja Nuestra Señora de Remelluri va recuperando sus antiguas tierras, contando actualmente con 154 hectáreas, 105 de las cuales constituyen un restaurado viñedo; origen de los vinos de Remelluri.
Remelluri se encuentra en la parte más septentrional de la Rioja Alavesa, bien protegida de los vientos dominantes y las heladas. 154 hectáreas de tierra arcillo-calcárea, 105 de las cuales constituyen su viñedo. Con un micro-clima excepcional y una perfecta orientación e inclinación al mediodía. Este terreno tan peculiar es el que da personalidad a su vino. Son suelos pobres, pedregosos, con capas arcillosas que retienen el frescor y la humedad. Todo ésto propicia una madurez del fruto con finura y equilibrio. El clima de influencia atlántica proporciona abundantes precipitaciones y unas medias de temperatura más bajas que en el resto de la Denominación. La alternancia de noches frescas y días calurosos es la que ofrece las condiciones ideales para una buena maduración fenólica de la uva Tempranillo.
