Dónde comenzamos.

En la región de Rioja Alavesa se ubica desde 2001 una de las firmas más vanguardistas y bellas de la denominación: Bodegas BAIGORRI, autora de tintos muy premiados en certámenes internacionales y fiel ejemplo de los valores riojanos más actuales y exitosos: terruño, fruta y elegancia. Sus vinos expresan terruño y sutileza, desplegando un carácter frutal que nunca sucumbe bajo el peso del roble. Clave en su éxito es una materia prima de alta calidad, procedente de sus 100 hectáreas de viñedo, con una edad media de 50 años; viñas sobre las que aplican un cultivo sostenible y una exhaustiva labor de selección.

BAIGORRI es además una de las bodegas más espectaculares del mundo, diseñada por el arquitecto Iñaki Aspiazu. Sus instalaciones se organizan en varios niveles, plantas subterráneas, para aprovechar la gravedad y llevar a cabo un proceso de elaboración mimado al detalle que comienza con la selección de la uva a mano. En el nivel superior, se recepciona la uva tras la vendimia; en el nivel inferior se lleva a cabo el proceso de vinificación en depósitos, y en un tercer nivel, la crianza en barricas (siempre de roble francés). De este modo, el vino se mueve por su propio peso, evitando el uso de bombas con el fin de preservar las cualidades de la fruta al máximo. El interés por la investigación enológica es otra de las características de esta bodega.
