Una de las pioneras.
De Muller, bodega fundada en 1851 por Don Augusto de Muller y Ruinart de Brimont, procedente de una conocida familia de vinicultores de origen alsaciano, que vieron en la provincia de Tarragona el potencial que ya en su tiempo supieron apreciar las colonias griegas instaladas en España y posteriormente el Imperio Romano, en la Tarraco Imperial, capital de la Hispania Citerior. Durante cuatro generaciones la compañía perteneció a la familia De Muller, y fue convirtiéndose en una de las empresas pioneras tanto en el ámbito comercial como en el tecnológico. Ya en el 1925 se instaló la primera Cámara Frigorífica de España aplicada a nivel industrial y destinada principalmente a los vinos de misa, siendo de esta especialidad Proveedores pontificios desde Pio X hasta Juan XXIII.
Trayectoria.
Desde Junio de 1995, DE MULLER S.A. pertenece a la familia Martorell, empresarios catalanes preocupados por conseguir la máxima calidad de nuestros vinos, respetando la tradición que durante décadas ha formado parte del patrimonio de la empresa. A principios de 1996, DE MULLER S.A. trasladó sus instalaciones a una nueva bodega rodeada de viñedos en la finca "Mas de Valls" en Reus (Tarragona), una región considerada especialmente favorable al cultivo de nobles variedades de uva. Modernos equipos de elaboración, depósitos de acero inoxidable, foudres y bocoyes de roble americano y francés, así como barricas de roble de diferentes procedencias, forman parte de nuestras bodegas. Bodegas con una capacidad de 4 millones de litros donde se elaboran los vinos de DO Tarragona procedentes de las 150 hectáreas de viñedos propios donde se cultivan variedades blancas, el Macabeo, Muscat de Alejandria, Sauvignon Blanco, Garnacha Blanca y Chardonnay; y variedades tintas, como el Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Garnacha y Pinot Noir.
En el municipio de El Molar, en la parte Suroeste del Priorat, se encuentra la finca "Mas de les Pusses", con 34 hectáreas de viñedo y una nueva bodega, de 500 mil litros de capacidad, donde con las variedades Garnacha, Garnacha Peluda, Syrah, Merlot y Cariñena se elaboran nuestros ricos vinos pertenecientes a la DOQ Priorat que con su propio estilo e identidad reflejan la región de donde provienen.
El cambio.
En 1999, De Muller cogió el relevo de la empresa Cochs S.A. la cual después de 52 años de plena actividad y a causa de falta de continuidad en la dirección de la empresa, desde siempre familiar, se optó a su traspaso. La empresa Cochs fue fundada en Reus el año 1946. habiendo iniciado sus actividades el 1 de enero de 1947. Dedicada principalmente a la elaboración del tradicional Vermut de Reus de reconocido renombre en todo el territorio nacional, cuya formula original se sigue manteniendo. Actualmente De Muller produce una extensa y variada gama de vinos de calidad, bajo las Denominaciones de Origen: "Tarragona", "Priorat" y "Terra Alta", entre ellos nuestro conocidísimo Vino de Misa quien dio fama y nombre en el mundo entero a nuestra marca. Hoy en día se sigue exportando el 60% de la producción a los mercados internacionales, y vendiendo el 40% al mercado interior.
