Historia.
La historia de Osborne se remonta a finales del siglo XVIII, cuando un joven comerciante inglés, de nombre Thomas Osborne Mann, llegó a tierras gaditanas para comercializar los vinos de la zona. Pronto comienza a hacer negocios en el Puerto de Santa María y es en esta localidad donde adquiere varias bodegas que más tarde fusionará bajo una única marca: Osborne. Su larga e impecable trayectoria de casi 250 años, han convertido a Osborne en el gran grupo empresarial que es hoy, de gran fama y reconocimiento internacional. A lo largo de estos años, se ha ido conformando el Grupo Osborne como un grupo empresarial de carácter familiar, con identidad propia y visión de constituirse en referente de lo español en el sector de las bebidas y alimentación, gracias a proyectos de crecimiento eficiente a través de la calidad e imagen de sus marcas líderes, tanto nacional como internacionalmente.
Anís del Mono.
El año 1870 marca el origen de la marca de anís de mayor reconocimiento internacional: Anís del Mono, se remonta al siglo XIX y fue adquirida por Osborne en 1975. En 1874 nacieron las Bodegas Montecillo, la tercera bodega más antigua de La Rioja. Una bodega con añadas históricas únicas que fue adquirida por Osborne en 1973. También hay que remontarse al siglo XIX para establecer el origen de Sanchez Romero Carvajal Jabugo, compañía reconocida por la calidad única de sus productos y por el posicionamiento ultra premium de la marca Cinco Jotas. La compañía fue adquirida por Osborne en 1983. En 2016, Osborne creó la Fundación Osborne, dedicada a impulsar la formación, el emprendimiento y la empleabilidad de los jóvenes.

El icono.
Hace más de 60 años Osborne encargó a la agencia Azor una valla para publicitar en las carreteras su brandy Veterano. El diseñador Manolo Prieto creó entonces (1956) el diseño de un toro que se integrara en el paisaje. En los siguientes años, José Antonio Osborne y José Luis Gómez Bermúdez recorrieron las carreteras españolas buscando emplazamiento para los más de 200 Toros de Osborne que se colocaron. La primera valla publicitaria se colocó en 1957 en Cabanillas de la sierra (Madrid), medía 4 metros de altura y estaba fabricada en madera. Debido a su desgaste por la climatología, en 1961 se fabricó el primer toro en chapa metálica, con 7 metros de altura y desapareciendo los cuernos blancos del diseño inicial.
Vinos.
Bodegas Osborne es la división del Grupo dedicada a la producción y comercialización de vinos, elaborados en España y Portugal. En concreto, la compañía comercializa vinos de las zonas de producción de mayor prestigio: Vinos de Jerez, Vinos de Oporto, Vinos de Rioja, Vinos de Toledo.
- La Rioja: En las Bodegas Montecillo, siguen una tradición enológica centenaria. La historia aquí empezó en un calado del siglo XVI, donde los vinos de añadas únicas son guardados en silencio. Proponen descubrir los misterios de Montecillo en la elaboración de los más selectos vinos de Rioja. Montecillo Reserva y Gran Reserva son reconocidos internacionalmente.
- Toledo: Ahí, las Bodegas Osborne promueven La innovación aplicada a la enología. Los visitantes pueden pasear por más de 700 hectáreas de viñas, silenciosas en invierno, espléndidas en primavera, el mayor viñedo de toda Europa. Elaboran los vinos más modernos, tintos, blancos y rosados, un mundo mágico y cautivador de aromas y sabores. Es una experiencia total para los sentidos.
- Cádiz: Se encuentra al origen de Osborne, “catedral” del vino de Jerez. Desde 1772, año en el que Tomas Osborne Mann fundó Osborne, la bodega ha conservado la mayor colección de vinos viejos de Jerez. Bodegas con solera, jardines cuidados con esmero, edificios centenarios en un enclave único. Vino y Brandy de Jerez, envejecidos de acuerdo con el tradicional método de “soleras y criaderas”, se convierten en un placer enológico reconocido mundialmente.
