Viticultura tradicional y perfeccionista.
En la línea de las bodegas pequeñas y prestigiosas que recogen la herencia de los primeros viticultores de la Ribera del Duero se encuentran firmas tan conocidas como Viña Sastre y otras quizás menos conocidas pero también ensalzadas por la crítica internacional, como Vizcarra. Una bodega selectiva con vinos muy bien posicionados. La historia de Bodegas Vizcarra arranca en 1991 de manos de Juan Carlos Vizcarra, actual propietario y enólogo. Su padre, José Manuel Vizcarra, fue uno de los pioneros en cultivar viñedo en la Ribera en los años ochenta. Convencido del valor de estas viñas, Juan Carlos se lanzó en 1991 a elaborar en unas rudimientarias instalaciones, produciendo vinos de tradición familiar que se han ido puliendo para competir en la alta gama. Destaca su magnífica labor en campo, donde aplica una viticultura tradicional y perfeccionista. Cuenta con 50 hectáreas de viñedo en los términos de Mambrilla de Castrejón y Roa de Duero (Burgos), en el corazón de la Ribera del Duero, cultivados con la variedad reina de la denominación, la tinto fino (tempranillo), y una pequeña proporción de uvas internacionales. En 2007 Vizcarra inauguró nuevas instalaciones, en las cuales todos los procesos de elaboración tienen lugar por gravedad, consiguiendo así vinos honestos y de concentración.
La historia.
Bodegas Vizcarra en Ribera del Duero empiezan el proyecto en los años 1980; en ese momento, José Manuel Vizcarra Aguado fue uno de los pioneros en realizar plantaciones de viña, cuando todavía nadie apostaba por la zona de Ribera. En 1991 se funda la bodega; su hijo Juan Carlos Vizcarra sigue los pasos de su padre elaborando los primeros vinos jóvenes y posteriormente el vino tinto crianza de Bodegas Vizcarra. En el año 2007, inauguran las nuevas instalaciones en las que todo el proceso de elaboración y crianza (encubado, prensado, remontado y trasiegos) se realizan por gravedad. Evitando la utilización de bombas consiguen una mayor concentración de aromas y los taninos que se extraen son mucho más elegantes. Actualmente, Juan Carlos, el enólogo de la bodega, investiga y elabora microvinificaciones de uvas procedentes de viejas parcelas. Las 35 hectáreas de Tinto Fino, con rendimientos muy bajos y siguiendo pautas de gran respeto con el medio ambiente, se encuentran en formación de vaso y espaldera, junto a una hectárea de Merlot y plantaciones de otras variedades foráneas. Todas ellas son el pilar para la vinificación de grandes vinos. Antes de entrar en la bodega, el 100% de la uva vendimiada pasa por la mesa de selección. El resultado son vinos elegantes, con personalidad, como el vino tinto Senda de Oro de Bodegas Vizcarra. Grandes vinos con una excelente relación calidad-precio.
