Español [ ES ]Bodegas Montecillo fue fundada en el año 1874 por D.Celestino Navajas en La Rioja Alta. Es, por lo tanto, una de las bodegas riojanas con más antigüedad y tradición en la elaboración de vinos amparados por esta Denominación de Origen. Bodegas Montecillo, más de 130 años después de su fundación, mantiene con el máximo rigor su objetivo prioritario: la elaboración de vinos tintos con personalidad, íntegros y naturales, seleccionando cuidadosamente la materia prima, la uva, y siguiendo un proceso natural de envejecimiento y afinado en botella de sus vinos, que ofrece una gran consistencia de calidad, añada tras añada. Bodegas Montecillo sólo elabora vinos de las categorías superiores, todos ellos bajo el sello de garantía del Consejo Regulador de la Denominación de Origen Calificada Rioja: Montecillo Crianza, Montecillo Reserva, Montecillo Gran Reserva y Montecillo Gran Reserva Selección Especial. Cerca del 50% de su producción se destina a exportación, principalmente a los mercados europeos, en países como Inglaterra, Alemania, Suecia, Dinamarca y Noruega, y a Norteamérica.
Montecillo fue fundada en 1874, en la Rioja Alta, en la localidad de Fuenmayor, siendo una de las bodegas pioneras en elaborar en la ya prestigiosa denominación de origen Rioja. En 1973 el Grupo Osborne se hizo con la bodega y emprendió una reforma tecnológica que dotó de sofisticación a los vinos de la firma, pero fiel al estilo tradicional elaborador de la centenaria bodega, conservando su espíritu clásico. Desde entonces, sigue elaborando bajo las directrices que fijaron sus fundadores: vinos con personalidad (tintos y blancos), dotados de integridad y producto de una cuidada selección de las uvas que lo componen. El envejecimiento en barricas de roble francés y americano (elaboradas artesanalmente en la propia tonelería de la bodega) se realiza conforme a la tradición riojana, con trasiegos cada seis meses. Sólo cuando la añada ha sido de suficiente calidad, Montecillo elabora sus vinos. Su vino Viña Monty representa la corriente enológica más vanguardista de la centenaria bodega riojana, apostando por una elaboración tradicional pero con aires renovados.
