De proyecto a realidad.

En el año 2001, con la ayuda de sus 3 hijos, Carlos, Henar y Antonio, el nuevo proyecto se hacía realidad: La bodega. El lugar elegido, el que les vio nacer y crecer, La Horra, uno de los lugares privilegiados de la Ribera del Duero. El clon de Tempranillo de las viñas de la Familia García Figuero procede de cepas prefiloxéricas gracias a la llegada de franceses en 1908. Tras la terrible plaga de la filoxera, dedicaron sus esfuerzos a replantar los viñedos en La horra con las mejores cepas. Posteriormente, la familia García Figuero continúo plantando viñedos con el mismo sistema. Más tarde, se seleccionaron las 21 parcelas de viña vieja de más de 60 años que daban la mejor uva. La zona cuenta con un clima “continentalizado”, con fuertes contrastes entre el verano y el invierno, unos suelos en los que predominan las lutitas rojas-arcillas, con cantidades diversas de limo, arenas y gravas, y una gran variedad de especies vegetales. Un municipio con una superficie de 3.000 hectáreas, de las cuales una tercera parte es viñedo, el resto cereal y 500 hectáreas de monte, bosque de pinos, encinas y robles.

Juventud con experiencia.

Apoyados por un equipo técnico joven pero de experiencia contrastada, Alicia Vitores y Óscar Rodríguez, crearon una bodega con las últimas tecnologías y los mejores medios al servicio de la producción de grandes vinos: elaboración por gravedad -sistema que mima los vinos-, remontado automático y fermentación controlada -que nos aportan estabilidad en el color, aroma y sabor, año tras año-. El primer resultado, Tinto Figuero 2001, 4 meses en barrica, que marcó un hito. En la sala de crianza subterránea reposan más de mil barricas imbuidas en el máximo silencio y disfrutando de una temperatura estable todo el año, comprendida entre 12-15º. Formadas por los mejores granos de roble americano y francés, fabricadas con los diferentes tostados artesanales realizados por maestros toneleros de prestigio y que se renuevan cada 3 años para obtener todo su potencial, aportan ese bouquet característico que hacen a los vinos de tinto Figuero inconfundibles.
