Español [ ES ]En 1835, el emprendedor Manuel María González Angel llegó a Jerez con la intención de hacer negocio con la creciente demanda del Sherry por parte de Inglaterra. Adquirió una pequeña bodega que, en 1955, se vio desbordada por el éxito. Manuel María González se asoció con su agente en Inglaterra, Mr. Robert Blake Byass, naciendo así la compañía González-Byassz. Hoy en día, es la quinta generación de la familia González quienes están al frente del negocio de herencia familiar. Tío Pepe fue el primer vino fino que llegó a Inglaterra a mediados del siglo XIX y comenzó a tener un gran reconocimiento en todos los Mercados. En 1935, al cumplirse el Centenario de la fundación de las Bodegas, el Jefe de Propaganda de la Casa, Luís Pérez Solero, ideó y diseñó una serie de Iconos vistiendo cada una de las botellas de la Bodega con distintos tipos de ropa, entre los que destacó inmediatamente el Icono de Tío Pepe, representado con sombrero de ala ancha y chaquetilla andaluza de color rojo, brazos en jarra y una guitarra española en el costado.
Actualmente, el grupo González Byass está conformado por un amplio abanico de bodegas que elaboran en las denominaciones de origen más emblemáticas e importantes de España, con Beronia en la D.O.Ca. Rioja; Viñas del Vero en la D.O. Somontano; Vilarnau en Cataluña; Finca Constancia en Toledo, Finca Moncloa en Cádiz, Pazos de Lusco en la D.O. Rías Baixas y la bodega Tío Pepe en Jerez. Entre los productos que ofrece el grupo, destacan los emblemáticos vinos de Jerez, sus cavas, brandies, anises, licores ginebra, aceites y vinagres, bebidas espirituosas, entre otras).
