La primera casa de Champagne.

La casa Ruinart es la más antigua de Champagne, apostando por la finura y elegancia como rasgos característicos. El filósofo y teólogo Dom Thierry Ruinart (1657-1709) estudiaba en la abadía de Sain-Germain-des-Prés. Descendiente de una antigua familia de Reims dueña de viñedos, inspira a su hermano Nicolás hablándole del creciente interés en la corte francesa por el vino de Champagne. Así, Thierry Ruinart es considerado como el inspirador del fundador de la primera casa de Champagne. Y será el hijo de Nicolás Ruinart, llamado también Nicolás, quien el 1 de septiembre de 1729 fundará la Casa Ruinart. Está considerada la casa productora más antigua, aunque también Gosset reclama este título, pues desde 1584 Ruinart elaboraba vinos, aunque no espumosos, sino tranquilos. A lo largo de casi tres siglos, los descendientes Ruinart han seguido desarrollando la excelencia y el reconocimiento del "gusto Ruinart" por todo el mundo. Su devoción por el trabajo artesanal y la exigencia constante de la calidad, la pureza y la elegancia han guiado su destino. La zona de Champagne está plantada con tres tipos de cepas que dan vinos diferentes según el terreno donde se encuentren. La chardonnay, la preferida de Ruinart y la más rara, da vinos de gran finura y elegancia inigualables si crece en la creta de la Côte des Blancs, tierra ligada a la saga Ruinart desde hace varias generaciones; o de gran cuerpo y fuerza si crece en la Montagne de Reims.
