Los comienzos.

Aalto Bodegas y Viñedos fue el proyecto que emprendieron en 1998 el enólogo Mariano García de Bodegas Mauro y Javier Zaccagnini, este último tras finalizar su etapa como Director Técnico del Consejo Regulador de la Denominación de Origen Ribera del Duero. Posteriormente, las familias Masaveu, Fillaboa, Murúa, Pagos de Aráiz y Nozaleda, adquirieron el 80% del accionariado a partes iguales. Aalto posee 42 hectáreas de viñedo, algunas cepas tienen más de 60 años de edad, en diversos municipios de Valladolid y Burgos. Desde el principio su objetivo fue elaborar vinos de altísima calidad con uvas de tempranillo cultivadas en terruños muy específicos, cultivando con bajos rendimientos, unos 2.500 kg/ha y estrictas normas de calidad. La vendimia en Aalto se realiza de forma manual y en pequeñas cajas; una vez en la bodega se selecciona en dos mesas de selección. La bodega cuenta con dos referencias: Aalto y Aalto PS (Pagos Seleccionados), que sólo se elabora cuando la añada es Excelente.

Vinos de calidad excepcional.

AALTO es el resultado de la colaboración entre Mariano García, que fue 30 años enólogo de Vega Sicilia, y Javier Zaccagnini, 6 años director del Consejo Regulador de la Ribera del Duero. En 1999 iniciaron este proyecto vinícola basado en la calidad de la Tempranillo en la denominación de origen, la excepcional variación de microclimas y suelos de la región, y en la vasta experiencia y maestría de Mariano García. Se elaboran tan sólo dos vinos, AALTO Y AALTO PS, ambos 100% Tempranillo. El primero es el resultado de uvas de viñedos viejos, entre 40 y 80 años, procedentes de 9 pueblos distintos de la Ribera del Duero, vendimiados y elaborados por separado, ensamblándose estos vinos individuales a lo largo de los meses de crianza en barrica, dando como resultado un vino complejo y equilibrado, con multitud de matices. AALTO PS es una selección dentro de la selección, que procede de la elaboración por separado de aquellos pequeños majuelos, generalmente de edades entre 80 y 100 años, que han destacado como excepcionales cada año en particular. Esta uva entra en bodega como PS y es elaborada y criada en barrica francesa nueva de manera que alcance todo su altísimo potencial de calidad, resultando en un vino poderoso y estructurado pero con una enorme finura y elegancia. Actualmente se puede encontrar en el mercado AALTO 2014, una de las mejores cosechas de los últimos 10 años. Presenta un color púrpura oscuro, con gran intensidad frutal y notas de madera en nariz. Su sabor es amplio, estructurado y elegante, como corresponde a una excepcional maduración. Disfruta de los sabores típicos de la uva Tempranillo, como son el regaliz y los frutos negros, así como torrefactos, especias y tabaco, aportados por una impecable crianza en madera. Es un vino de larga guarda que irá ganando complejidad con los años.
